n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you; with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.
Hi, I’m Annie. My story begins as a pastry chef many many years ago. After working in kitchens, including my own for over a decade, I felt the desire to learn something new and get my hands dirty again. I went to a jewelry metalsmith school in Florence and fell in love with the craft. So much of Sonder is the culmination of discovering new places, meeting new people and taking myself out of my comfort zone. These are things I am very passionate about. I think the definition of Sonder brings grace in the understanding that every person and place has a story. It’s the discovery of those stories that is exciting to me! Since Sonder is about stories, I thought it appropriate to share some of my story with you. Each piece is named after places and people that have been impactful to me. Navajo Pointe, one of our scents, is the point I drove all night to get to to catch the sunrise over the Grande Canyon on my move to Los Angeles. The Jenny Ring is named after an awe inspiring hike I took on a camping trip in the Grand Tetons. Each piece has a name and each name has a meaning. I hope you enjoy.
